How far in advance can I renew my 16-25 Railcard?

If you renew online with us, your 16-25 Railcard will become valid from the date of purchase onwards. As such, you can renew at any point before your current one expires, but it means there could be a period of overlap between your current Railcard and new Railcard. If you want to maximise value, make sure you renew as close to the date of expiry as possible.

Can I renew my 16-25 Railcard after it expires?

Yes, absolutely. It doesn’t matter whether your old Railcard was purchased at a station or online – you can renew a 16-25 Railcard with us at any point after your old one expires, as long as you're still within the eligible age range for a 16-25 Railcard.

What are the age limits for renewing a 16-25 Railcard?

This depends on whether you want to renew for 1 year or 3 years. If you renew for 1 year, you can do so at any point up to the day before your 26th birthday. If you’re renewing for 3 years, you can renew your 16-25 Railcard at any point up to the day before your 24th birthday.

The savings don’t stop when you’re 26, though – you can always move onto the 26-30 Railcard to enjoy 1/3 off rail travel for another four years!
