Aged between 26 and 30? Then there's good news! Your train travel in the UK is about to get considerably cheaper thanks to the 26-30 Railcard (also known as the Millennial Railcard). From this page, you'll be able to buy your very own Railcard and learn about both the benefits and restrictions on its use. If you already have your shiny new Railcard, why not book a journey now with 1/3 off the price and take it out for a spin?
The 26-30 Railcard is a fantastic way for young people to save money on rail travel.
Originally introduced as part of a trial in 2018, the 26-30 Railcard is officially here to stay and available for all who fall within the age bracket – largely because it was hugely popular and saved people a ton of money. So, if you don't have one yet, be sure to grab one below!
The 26-30 Railcard will only cost you £30 a year, but that pretty much pays itself off once you use it on a few train journeys!
You can use your Railcard at all times during the week, but please be aware that any journey made between the hours of 04:30 and 10:00 requires a minimum £12 fare before your Railcard discount is applicable.
You can buy a 26-30 Railcard on the official 26-30 Railcard website. Please bear in mind that this is the first digital-only Railcard, meaning you'll need to have a smartphone to buy and use one.
The process of ordering one is fairly straightforward – you just need to be prepared with the following:
Once you've finished your purchase, you'll be sent an email with a digital railcard code. All you need to do is add your code to the Railcard app, and you'll be good to go!
Please note that if you’re looking to use your 26-30 Railcard to buy a train ticket on this page, you can select the 16-25 Railcard in the dropdown and your 26-30 Railcard will still be valid.
If you've been putting off that leisure trip because the ticket prices were a little high, now's the time to check out some of these destinations with your discounted tickets!
You can use your 26-30 Railcard on all train services and tickets across the UK, apart from:
Railcards don't apply to Season Tickets as they give you such a great deal already! So, if you often travel by train during peak hours and your usual journey is under £12 it may be worth using our Season Ticket Calculator to see whether you could make better savings that way. Although, if you still make plenty of leisure journeys by train as well then why not have both?
When buying your train tickets with us, follow these simple steps to claim your discount.
At this stage, you should see the discount applied, and you should be able to follow the booking flow to the checkout page.
The 26-30 Railcard is now available to anyone who falls within the age bracket, nationwide.
Whenever you feel like it! (Assuming you're aged between 26 and 30 of course).
If your Railcard is within one month of its expiry date, then you can simply sign in to your Railcard account and navigate to the 'Renew' section. You can renew your Railcard right up until (and including) the day before your 31st birthday.
