Veterans Railcard

The Veterans Railcard can save you up to 1/3 on eligible train tickets in the UK including Standard and First Class Anytime, Off-Peak, Super Off-Peak and Advance fares. You can also travel with up to four children and save 60% on child fares.

A Veterans Railcard costs £30 for one year or £70 for three years.

If you’re buying a paper Veterans Railcard, it can take up to five working days to arrive. You'll need to download and complete the application form. Once you've completed the form, you'll need to post it with a copy of your evidence of eligibility, a passport-style photo of yourself and your named companion (if applicable) and payment to:

Discounted tickets purchased by a Veterans Railcard holder should be issued for travel for the same origin and destination and should normally be of the same ticket type, e.g. all Off-Peak Returns.

Yes. With your Veterans Railcard, you can get 1/3 off your Anytime Day Travelcard when bought as part of your journey to London from outside London Zones 1-9 (subject to a minimum fare of £19.60).

You can also get your Veterans Railcard discount loaded onto your Oyster card to save 1/3 on single Off-Peak pay as you go fares on London Underground and Docklands Light Railway services in London. You'll need to register your Oyster card in your name to do this - simply take your Oyster card and a valid Veterans Railcard to a London Underground station, Oyster Ticket Shop or Visitor Centre and ask a member of staff to set the discount for you.
