OUIGO: high speed at low prices

OUIGO is a French high-speed, low-cost train operator that has been running services in Spain since 2021. Currently, you can take a OUIGO train to many Spanish cities, including Madrid, Barcelona, Valencia, Alicante, Albacete, Zaragoza and Tarragona.

These trains have two types of seats: essential and XL. However, OUIGO trains in Spain do have a café-bar onboard!

Buying OUIGO Spain tickets online

OUIGO Spain tickets are only available to buy online. Whether you use our website or app, we’ll help you compare prices and find the cheapest one. The earlier you book, the more you’ll save.

OUIGO Spain ticket refunds

OUIGO Spain tickets are non-refundable but can be exchanged online for another OUIGO train ticket with the same departure and arrival stations up to 30 minutes before the train departs. If you want to change the name on your ticket, it'll cost €10. As OUIGO Spain tickets are exclusively sold online, it's not possible to make changes to them at a train station.

OUIGO Plus

With the OUIGO Plus service, you can enjoy a number of perks for just an extra €9. Choose OUIGO Plus and you’ll get to enjoy an XL seat (subject to availability), plus a larger luggage allowance.

XL seats

With this service you’ll be assigned an XL seat, subject to availability. The XL seats are located in carriages 1, 2, 3 or 9, 10 and 11 in both the lower and upper decks. You can choose your seat at the time of purchase.

Additional luggage

With OUIGO Plus you can carry one piece of cabin luggage (55 cm x 35 cm x 25 cm), a handbag (36 cm x 27 cm x 15 cm) and an additional piece of luggage (2 m x 2 m, with a maximum weight of 30 kg).

Change of date

If you want to change your travel date, you’ll need to pay €30 plus the difference in price between the old ticket and the new one. With an extra €7, you can upgrade your OUIGO Plus fare ticket to a OUIGO Plus Flex ticket, which allows you to change your date and time of travel at no extra cost. You’ll only need to pay the price difference between the two tickets if there’s any.

When did OUIGO trains start to run in Spain?

The low-cost high-speed OUIGO trains started to run in Spain on the 10th May 2021.

Which routes are served by OUIGO in Spain?

OUIGO trains are currently serving the route from Madrid to Barcelona, with stops in Tarragona and Zaragoza, as well as connecting Madrid with Valencia, Alicante and Tarragona. Take a look at our Journey Planner for all the details.

Where can I buy OUIGO Spain tickets?

OUIGO Spain tickets are available to buy online from both our website and app.

What happens if my OUIGO train is cancelled?

If your OUIGO train is cancelled, you have two options to choose from:

  1. You can either request a refund, which will be credited back to the card you’ve used at the time of purchase, or get a voucher that will be valid for 6 months
  2. You can take another OUIGO train. You have 30 days to change your ticket free of charge. What’s more, if the price of the new ticket is higher than the old one, you won’t need to pay the difference.

What happens if my train is late or cancelled and I miss my connection?

OUIGO only offers point-to-point services. Under no circumstances does OUIGO guarantee connections or links between trips free of charge, either in relation to OUIGO trips (offered by OUIGO or by third parties) or in relation to trips of other transport companies. Therefore, OUIGO will not guarantee the continuity of the journey free of charge nor will it have any responsibility for any loss of connection by the passenger.

Do I get priority access if I’m a traveller with reduced mobility?

Yes. You’ll need to get to the meeting point an hour before departure so that the staff can arrange their assistance service accordingly. If that’s not possible, please make sure you get there at least 30 minutes before the train leaves.

When and how can I request the assistance service?

You can request OUIGO’s assistance service up to 48 hours before your train departs via their website in the “Reservations” section. You’ll need to enter your email address, phone number and the type of assistance you need and you’ll receive an email confirmation for the requested service.

Can I travel with my bike?

You can travel with your bike or scooter on OUIGO trains if they’re disassembled and stored in a carrying case, and don’t exceed the size of 120 cm x 90 cm and the maximum weight of 30 kg. As they’re considered extra luggage, you’ll need to check them in – you can do so after you buy your ticket, up to 30 minutes before your train departs.
