Trains to London Paddington

London Paddington is one of Britain's most beloved and important railway stations. The historic headquarters of the Great Western Railway, the original building was designed by GWF chief engineer Isambard Kingdom Brunel, and there is a statue of the great man between platforms 8 and 9. Paddington's first train station opened on Bishop's Bridge Road in 1838, but the Brunel-built station opened in 1854 - and the surviving wrought iron roofs that stretch across the platforms are a marvel to this day. Paddington provides services to and from the West Country and South Wales and to the suburban areas of West London and the Thames Valley. The station is situated in the middle of many tourist attractions, including the vast greenery of Hyde Park, the charming Regent's Canal and art hub The Serpentine. Since the 1960s, Paddington station has been known as the home of everybody's favourite cuddly toy, Paddington Bear, and you'll find a bronze statue of Paddington Bear under the clock on platform 1.

Station details & facilities

The main entrance to the station from street level is from Praed Street, with further entrances from the London Underground station and the canal footpath. Paddington has fourteen platforms. Platforms 6 and 7 are dedicated to the Heathrow Express, and platforms 13 and 14, for local commuter services. The spacious concourse is at the head of platforms 1 to 12 and a footbridge, which crosses the northwestern end of the station, accesses all platforms. Toilets are by platform 12.
