Travelling from Edinburgh to Luton by train will take you from Scotland through to the North East of England, Cambridgeshire and Bedfordshire. The trains you will typically take on this route will be Avanti West Coast (formerly Virgin Trains) and East Midlands Railway (formerly East Midlands Trains).
You will find power sockets at every table on all London North Eastern Railway (LNER) trains. Those in First Class can enjoy complimentary WiFi access, while passengers seated in Standard will need to pay a small fee for the service.
All LNER trains feature a buffet car called The Foodbar, usually located either in coach J or H. Here, you can purchase hot and cold food and drinks throughout the day. On most journeys, you'll also find a full drinks menu and an at-seat trolley service. If you travel in First Class, the food and drinks are complimentary but subject to availability.
Quiet Coaches are available on most Avanti West Coast trains. Noise must be kept to a minimum, with restrictions on mobile phone calls.
On all East Midland Trains, WiFi is complimentary and at-seat refreshments are available during weekdays if you travel in First Class. If you travel in Standard on weekdays, then refreshments will be available from an at-seat trolley service, while WiFi is accessible for a small fee.
You can carry up to three items of luggage on your journey. If you're carrying pets, we recommend you use a pet carrier where possible. You can also bring your bike with you on board, but please remember that you need to book 48 hours in advance.
Your first train from Edinburgh to King's Cross will take you from the North East of England right to Central London. Expect spectacular views of the North East coastline on the way to Newcastle, a fascinating city where Roman and Anglo-Saxon elements are perfectly combined.
Passing by North York Moors National Park, make sure to have your camera ready for some amazing shots. You'll then travel through York itself, the chocolate city par excellence in the UK, also renowned for its exquisite architecture and quaint cobbled streets.
After a short walk from King's Cross to London St Pancras International, hop on an East Midlands train and you'll reach Luton with ease.
