The most common journey from Birmingham to Aberdeen typically involves a change at Edinburgh Waverley. You can travel using Avanti West Coast (formerly Virgin Trains), London North Eastern Railway (LNER) and CrossCountry trains.
Most LNER or Avanti West Coast (formerly Virgin Trains) trains feature a buffet car called The Foodbar, usually located either in coach J or H. Here, you can purchase hot and cold meals throughout the day. On most journeys, you'll also find a full drinks menu and an at-seat trolley service. If you travel in First Class, the food and drink are complimentary but subject to availability. There's complimentary WiFi for First Class passengers, while those travelling in Standard can pay a small fee for the service.
CrossCountry trains all come with a First Class option. There's a buffet car on most trains, if not, then there will be a buffet cart providing at-seat service. Most CrossCountry trains on this route feature a Quiet Coach and there's free WiFi if you travel in First Class (WiFi can be purchased for a small fee if you're seated in Standard).

From Birmingham, this train takes you on a scenic route through the Peak District, going on to stop at Sheffield, Leeds, York and Newcastle. You'll see some amazing East Coast sights before the train heads up into the Lowlands of Scotland.
The crossing of the Forth Rail Bridge outside Edinburgh offers a spectacular view for all to see, no matter where you are on the train. You’ll then continue to follow the East coast of Scotland, before arriving at Aberdeen.
