Newquay to Manchester by train is a journey that will give you the opportunity to see plenty of the English countryside. It's typically split into two shorter Great Western Railway trains before a high-speed CrossCountry service takes you from Exeter St David’s to Manchester.
CrossCountry trains all come with a First Class option. There's a buffet car on most trains, if not, then a buffet cart will provide an at-seat service. Most CrossCountry trains on this route come with a Quiet Coach and there's free WiFi in First Class (passengers seated in Standard can pay a small fee for the service). Newquay to Manchester takes you along the scenic coasts of Cornwall and Devon, before changing at Exeter St David’s for the high-speed CrossCountry service, upwards through the Somerset Hills and Cotswolds, and on to the West Midlands before arriving at Manchester. The highlight of this route is without a doubt the Dawlish Sea Wall, which you'll pass by just before you enter Exeter. Travelling along the very edge of the Devon Coast, you‘ll see nothing but sea as you hurtle along. For the best views, make sure to grab a seat on the right-hand side.
