Most CrossCountry trains come with WiFi onboard, as well as food service, which is complimentary in First Class. A buffet car is also available, where you can buy hot and cold food and drink, if not, then a buffet cart will be available for an at-seat service. You can also take your bike with you free of charge, but we advise you to book a space in advance or, if you prefer, at a station before you travel.
Taking the train from Edinburgh to Exeter will give you the chance to travel across the Lowlands and into the heart of England, before diving into Somerset and Devon, ending up at the cathedral city of Exeter.
Enjoy spectacular views of the North East coastline on the way to Newcastle, a fascinating city where Roman and Anglo-Saxon elements are perfectly combined. Passing by the North York Moors National Park, there are yet more sights to drink in. You'll then stop at Leeds, one of the leading centres of industry in Victorian England.
During your journey, make sure to get a window seat, you don’t want to miss the outstanding natural beauty of the Cotswolds. The further south you go into Somerset and Devon, the flatter the land becomes, with farmlands and animals taking centre stage. Soon after you'll reach the cathedral city of Exeter, your final destination.
