On a cold September morning, our train departed from Bournemouth. The train station is a short bus journey from the town centre and seafront. Inside the station, there are just 3 platforms, so finding the right one was simple. Whilst waiting for my train, I treated myself to an enjoyable coffee from the station café and looked forward to the day ahead.

Boarding the train

Prior to our journey, I purchased digital tickets, meaning we didn’t have to waste time queuing to buy or collect our tickets. By the time the South Western Railway train arrived, the platform was bustling with people. Nevertheless, it was fairly easy to find a seat once we had boarded the train.

The journey

The train provided by South Western Railway was modern and clean. Due to the long day ahead, I charged my phone using the onboard charging sockets and connected to the free WiFi available. I sat back and enjoyed the views outside the window and before I knew it, we arrived at London Waterloo station.

From the station, it’s a short walk to iconic landmarks such as the London Eye, Big Ben and Westminster Abbey. Also, Waterloo Underground Station is really well connected to the rest of the city, with the Bakerloo, Jubilee, Northern and Waterloo & City Line passing through it.
