London Waterloo Railway Station was first built in July 1848; the present structure was inaugurated in 1922. This striking building is a Grade II listed building and with just around 100 million passenger entries and exits per year, Waterloo is Britain's busiest railway station by passenger usage and one of the biggest in Europe. The station was originally used as Eurostar terminal between 1994 - 2007, until this was moved to St Pancras International station, although discussions have been started to re-establish this as a working terminal.

Station details & facilities

Located by the River Thames, just a short walk from Westminster Bridge, this is, of course, a busy station for tourists. But the majority of passengers here are travelling on local or suburban services. It’s a busy commuter station and terminus for those travelling in from nearby stations. There are also frequent services to Ashford International, Weymouth, Portsmouth and Reading.

There are plenty of attractions you can reach once you arrive at London Waterloo station. For example, you can easily get to the Imperial War Museum, which is only a 12-minute walk away from the station, or the Palace of Westminster which is just a 15-minute walk.
