Planning to go to Rome after a nice holiday on the Amalfi Coast? Consider taking the train – you’ll arrive right into the city centre, ready to explore all the Eternal City has to offer.
Your journey will start from Vietri sul Mare, the only town on the Amalfi Coast which has a train station. The average journey time by train between Vietri sul Mare-Amalfi and Rome is 2 hours and 52 minutes, with around 34 trains per day. As there are no direct trains on this route, you’ll need to change at least once. To make sure your journey is as fast and smooth as possible, we recommend you firstly take Trenitalia’s regional train from Vietri sul Mare to Napoli Piazza Garibaldi, then follow the signs to Napoli Centrale – it’s on the floor above – and board an Italo or Frecciarossa high-speed train to Rome.
Getting off at Roma Termini station, you’ll be able to reach Rome’s main attractions with ease – the Colosseum is just a twenty-minute walk away.
