Can I take my bike on Irish Rail trains?

Yes, you can take your bike on the train, but bear in mind that restrictions vary depending on whether you take an InterCity or Commuter/DART service.

InterCity trains (long distance)

You can take your bike on InterCity trains but you must book a space first. You can do this while booking your train ticket.

Standard bikes must not exceed 1.8m in length and 0.865m in width. "Fat-tyre" bikes with tyres wider than 65mm cannot be accommodated in standard racks.

DART & Commuter trains

Bikes are only permitted on these services during weekday off-peak hours, plus all day on weekends. This means they cannot be carried onboard between 07:00 and 10:00, or between 16:00 and 19:00.

Unlike InterCity trains, you don't need to make a booking to take your bike onboard during the permitted times.
