Things to do in and around Leeds

West of Leeds lies the smaller city of Bradford which comes alive with colours every year in July during the multicultural Bradford Festival. Most of this happens within Bradford’s City Park, which also contains Mirror Pool – Britain’s largest water feature. Bradford is also famous for its curries and was voted Curry Capital of Britain in 2013.

Only 40 minutes from Leeds by train is the city of York, famous for its Viking heritage. This city has many remnants from its medieval past, including its 13th century city walls, York Minister Cathedral and Clifford’s Tower – the only remaining part of York Castle. Jorvik Viking Centre is also an excellent museum that takes you back to York in the 9th Century. Leeds Bradford Airport also lies on the edge of the Yorkshire Dales, an area of outstanding beauty and one of Britain’s National Parks.
