Edinburgh to Glasgow in under an hour

I travelled from Edinburgh to Glasgow on a ScotRail service. The journey took around fifty minutes, getting me to the city in good time.

My ticket was an Off-Peak single, meaning I could take any Off-Peak service that day. Luckily there are plenty of services between the two cities, so I simply turned up at the station and took the next available train.

The journey

The train only had one class and there were no seat reservations, so I hopped on and found a quiet carriage. Once the train escaped the city centre (keep an eye out for Murrayfield stadium!), we were quickly into the picturesque West Lothian countryside. I made use of the free WiFi to keep myself busy, and the power socket at my seat ensured I arrived in Glasgow with my phone charge intact.

Arrival in Glasgow

Glasgow Queen Street is located right in the city centre, so it was a short walk to where I was staying for the weekend. Although not as magnificent as Glasgow Central station (thought of as one of Britain’s most beautiful train stations) it served my purposes very well!
