Trains to Liverpool Airport
Liverpool Airport is a popular airport for travellers from the northwest of England. It services flights to destinations across Europe and North Africa. To get to the airport, many choose to take the train, a convenient and time and money-saving option. Liverpool John Lennon Airport is 7.5 miles southeast of Liverpool city centre. The closest train station is Liverpool South Parkway station, to which direct trains run from Liverpool Lime Street station (operated by East Midland Trains) and Liverpool Central station (operated by Merseyrail).
Direct trains also run to Liverpool South Parkway station from many major UK cities such as Manchester, Sheffield, Leeds and Birmingham. This puts Liverpool John Lennon Airport within easy reach of cities and towns in mainland Britain via train. Liverpool Airport terminal is only a short bus ride away from Liverpool South Parkway station. Buses run 7 days a week every 12-15 minutes during peak times.

Getting to Liverpool Airport by train
You can use Trainline to book cheap train tickets to Liverpool South Parkway train station. This will save you time and money on taxis and airport parking, so you’ll have more cash for your holiday. For the lowest price fares, we recommend you book your tickets well in advance of your journey. You can also use National Railcards to save you a further 1/3 off an adult’s journey and 60% off fares for your kids.
East Midlands Trains operate train services from Liverpool Lime Street to Liverpool South Parkway. Trains run 7 days a week, every 5 to 10 minutes during peak times and the journey takes 10 to 15 minutes. They start departing from around 6 a.m. and finish at around 11:30 p.m. The exception is on Sunday when they start around 8 a.m. Merseyrail also operate services from Liverpool Central to Liverpool South Parkway. Both train services provide convenient access to Liverpool John Lennon Airport from mainland UK.
The 86A bus service, run by Arriva and Stagecoach, connects Liverpool South Parkway station with Liverpool John Lennon Airport. Buses run 24/7 every 12-15 minutes during peak times Monday to Saturday up to every 30 minutes on Sundays and late at night. The journey takes around 40 minutes and costs £2.20. Arriva also runs the 500 bus service from Liverpool South Parkway to Liverpool Airport terminal. Although this bus journey only takes 20 minutes, the buses aren’t as frequent.

Things to do at Liverpool Airport
Liverpool John Lennon Airport is named after John Lennon, who was born in Liverpool. There’s a statue of a yellow submarine just outside the airport, in memory of a song by The Beatles (John Lennon’s band) of the same name.
As one of the busiest airports in the UK, there’s plenty of places to eat, drink and shop. For eateries, you have a Starbucks, Burger King, Subway, Frankie and Bennie’s, a pub named The Kissing Gate and many more restaurants, coffee shops and bars. There are also many shops including WHSmith, Boots, JD Sports and a With Love from Liverpool souvenir shop.
You can find the check-in for Liverpool Airport terminal on the ground floor as you enter the airport. You’ll need to go upstairs to get to security. After this, you will find a World Duty Free with a selection of spirits, confectionery, souvenirs and many other products.
