Trains to Basingstoke

Basingstoke station, with its clock towers and red brick, has a reassuringly traditional look in an area of town that has seen major changes in past fifteen years. Developed in the 1970s, The Malls, a shopping precinct south of the station, now looks much more 21st century, and 2002's Festival Place, next to the station, is home to over 200 shops to wander around as well as a number of bars and restaurants on Festival Square. From the railway station, the historic heart of Basingstoke, between the Haymarket and the Willis Museum on Market Place, is on the other side of the shopping centres. A few minutes' walk from both the station and the town centre lies Eastrop Park, with its green spaces, boating lake and jogging trails. The park hosts a wide range of events and concerts during the warmer months.

Station details & facilities

The entrance from the town-centre side and The Malls leads into a booking hall with shops, toilets and a ticket office. Access to all five platforms is by a subway - with lifts for step-free access - which connects to the north entrance of the station. There are additional cafes, waiting rooms and toilet facilities both on platform 4 and between platforms 2 and 3. Easy to get to, the bus stop and taxi rank are outside the main booking hall.
