About Beeston Castle

Naturally, the first port of call is the castle itself, high up on a rocky crag and surrounded by the stunning Cheshire countryside – you might even be able to see out to the Welsh mountains. While you’re up there, be sure to peer down the castle well, one of the deepest in England and said to be the hiding place of Richard II’s long lost treasure.

Next up, go for a wander around the beautiful woodland which sits under the watchful gaze of the castle above. The Cheshire countryside is some of the most beautiful in the country and serves up countless footpaths and trails for entry-level ramblers and hardened walkers alike. Keep your eyes peeled for the woodland inhabitants, from foxes and rabbits to bats and buzzards.

If all that fresh air has left you feeling peckish, head on over to The Sandstone Cafe, and tuck into one of their famous bacon sandwiches while you gaze down on the beautiful landscape below.

Finally, no trip to Beeston Castle is complete without popping into its exhibition centre, which charts the castle's four-thousand year history from its Bronze Age glory to its civil war decline.
