UK hot weather travel advice

Hot weather has been forecast across England, Wales and Scotland this week, with temperatures expected to reach 34°C in certain areas. 

An amber heat health alert has been issued across London, the South East, East of England, East Midlands and West Midlands. The alert comes into force on Tuesday 12th August 2025 and lasts until Wednesday 13th August 2025. 

This may cause trains to be disrupted, so be sure to check before you travel and allow more time for your journey where possible.

Advice for travelling by train in hot weather

If you are travelling during hot weather, we recommend the following:

There may be disruptions across the rail network due to the heat. Check the status of your train before you head to the station.

Carry water with you

Ensure you have plenty of water to drink, wear cool clothing and take a handheld fan with you if possible.
