UK hot weather travel advice

Hot weather has been forecast across England, Wales and Scotland this week, with temperatures expected to reach 30°C in certain areas. 

A yellow heat health alert has been issued across Yorkshire and The Humber, East Midlands, West Midlands, East England, the South East, the South West and London. The alert comes into force at 12:00 on Wednesday 18th June 2025 and lasts until 18:00 on Sunday 22nd June 2025. 

This may cause trains to be disrupted, so be sure to check before you travel and allow more time for your journey where possible.

Advice for travelling by train in hot weather

If you are travelling during hot weather, we recommend the following: 

Check before you travel

There may be disruptions across the rail network due to the heat. Check the status of your train before you head to the station.

Carry water with you

Ensure you have plenty of water to drink, wear cool clothing and take a handheld fan with you if possible.
