What is an Off-Peak Family Travelcard?

An Off-Peak Family Travelcard is a group Return Ticket for a minimum of 1 adult and 1 child travelling to London during Off-Peak times. The ticket includes unlimited travel throughout London on National Rail, London Underground, Docklands Light Railway, Tramlink and London Bus services within Fare Zones 1-6 for the day.

You can secure an Off-Peak Family Travelcard on selected Chiltern Railways, c2c, West Midlands Railway and London Northwestern Railway routes at Trainline. Just start a search for a minimum of 1 adult and 1 child aged 5-15 in our Journey Planner at the top of the page, and if the offer is valid on that route, you’ll see ‘Off-Peak Family Travelcard’ as a ticket option, with the relevant discount automatically applied.

Please note that Off-Peak Family Travelcards are currently only in paper format. Once you’ve placed your order online with us, you’ll receive an email with your collection reference number. Please take it with you when going to the station, as you’ll need it to collect your Off-Peak Family Travelcard from a self-serve ticket machine there.

Chiltern Railways Family Travelcard

Chiltern Railways offer a Family Travelcard from £30* when adults travel in Standard Class with children, who also get £1* child train tickets.

When and where can I use it?

When travelling on all Chiltern routes into London and anywhere in Zones 1-6, during Off-Peak hours Monday to Friday and anytime at weekends. You must hold a Return Ticket and you must arrive in London after 10:00.

c2c Family Travelcard

c2c offer 25% off your Family Travelcard if you’re travelling with up to 4 children in Standard Class. Kids also travel for a flat rate of just £2 during off-peak weekdays and at weekends.

When travelling on all c2c routes into London and anywhere in Zones 1-6, during Off-Peak hours Monday to Friday and anytime at weekends. You must hold a Return ticket.

West Midlands Railway Family Travelcard

West Midlands Railway offer £1* tickets to children aged 5-15 if they’re travelling into London with at least 1 adult holding a Family Travelcard.

When and where can I use it?

When travelling in Standard Class on West Midlands Railway routes into London, Zones 1-6. You must leave after 07:50 from Birmingham New Street, after 08:20 from Coventry and after 08:35 from Rugby during the week. Travel is permitted at any time during the weekend.

London Northwestern Railway offer Kids for a Quid train tickets to children aged 5-15 if they’re travelling into London with at least 1 adult holding a Family Travelcard.

When and where can I use it?

When travelling in Standard Class on London Northwestern Railway routes into London, Zones 1-6. You must arrive in London after 10:00 during weekdays. Travel is permitted at any time during the weekend. Kids travel for £1*.
