Trains to Woking (Main)

Originally opened in 1834, Woking station found fame in H. G. Wells’ classic sci-fi tale The War of the Worlds, which saw it destroyed by Martian invaders. Luckily, the tripods are nowhere to be seen today, except in the form of a sculpture on nearby Horsell Common, their landing spot in the novel. The modern station has a curved art deco facade at its south entrance, and is a busy stop on the line between London Waterloo and Portsmouth. Popular events in Woking include Chinese New Year – the town has a large, active Chinese community – the Woking Canal Festival and the regular Woking 20th Century & Art Deco Fair. The station has a prime spot in the heart of the town centre, right next to Woking Shopping Centre and a short walk from The Lightbox, a gallery and museum on the banks of the Basingstoke Canal.

Station details & facilities
