Whaley Bridge Railway Station serves the town of Whaley Bridge in Derbyshire with regular Northern trains operating on the Manchester-Buxton Line. Trains from Whaley Bridge generally run on an hourly timetable, serving primarily Manchester Piccadilly northbound with select extensions (to Blackpool North, Bolton, Wigan North Western, Barrow-in-Furness, Preston, Kirkby, or Clitheroe) and to Buxton southbound. During peak periods, additional trains serve the station. There are plans to increase train frequency at the station by the end of 2018.

Outside of these times, the station lacks ticketing facilities, and passengers should instead buy tickets in advance or on board the train. The station forecourt/car park slopes steeply upwards from its entrance at the junction of Market street and Reservoir Road. Access to the Buxton platform is step-free via a tarmac footpath along the front of the station building to a gate onto the platform, or via 10 steps up to the ticket office then one step down onto the platform. Step-free access to the Manchester platform is via a sloping path from Station View and through a gate onto the platform. A stepped footbridge connects the two platforms. However there is a very large gap between the train and platform on both platforms. This makes disabled access very difficult
