Trains to Somerleyton

Somerleyton railway station serves the little community of Somerleyton and the surrounding villages in Suffolk. It was opened in the mid-19th century by Norfolk Railway, but was quickly absorbed into Great Eastern Railway and then the London and North Eastern Railway. Today, the station, its two platforms and the trains that pass through on the Wherry Lines are managed by Abellio Greater Anglia. The old red-brick station building still sits next to the platform, though it was sold off to private investors some time ago. Facilities are sparse here but include small waiting shelters and timetable posters, though little else. There’s an hourly direct service to Norwich in 34 minutes and an irregular direct service to Lowestoft every two hours in 13 minutes.

When you step off the train at Somerleyton railway station, you’ll be on the edge of The Broads, one of the UK’s newest national parks which is crisscrossed with picturesque waterways making for some of the finest walks in South East England.
