Trains to Salhouse

Salhouse railway station is used by the little community of Salhouse and the surrounding villages just a few miles north west of Norwich along the Bittern Line. The original brick station building and beautiful overhanging roof still exist next to one of the two platforms, though it is no longer used as a ticket office. Passengers must either purchase there tickets online in advance or on board the train with the conductor. There are few facilities here bar some bench seating and timetable posters. Today, the station and the trains that pass through are operated by Abellio Greater Anglia. There is an irregular hourly service direct to Norwich in 12 minutes and the coastal town of Cromer in 38 minutes.

It might be pretty, but there’s little to do in the tiny village of Salhouse other than grabbing a drink in one of the cosy pubs. When you step off the train, make a dash for the Bure Marshes, a nature reserve teeming with wildlife in The Broads National Park.
