Llangynllo railway station is a request stop on the Heart of Wales Line that runs from Shrewsbury to Swansea in Mid-Wales. At 980 feet, the station marks the highest point of this particular line. Five trains run daily to Shrewsbury, taking around 1h and 5m. eight trains run to Swansea taking around 2h 51m.

Llangynllo station is one of the points along the Glyndwr's Way National Trail, a walking trail that boasts some of the best scenery in Wales. Also nearby is Offa’s Dyke, a famous eighth-century ditch and rampart that traces the border between England and Wales. This landmark is also the start of the Offa's Dyke Path, a 177-mile long-distance walking trail through moorland, woodland and river valleys. The village itself has a pub, holiday cottages and a bed and breakfast.
