A rural halt served primarily by Northern trains, Entwistle Railway Station lies close to the small village of Edgworth, just under six miles north of Bolton. Due to the station’s relatively difficult to access location and positioning just outside the Transport for Greater Manchester boundaries, it is a request only halt. Nonetheless, trains from Entwistle operate on a basic hourly frequency, with southbound trains serving Manchester and Bolton and northbound trains running to Blackburn and Clitheroe.
Station facilities at Entwistle remain somewhat basic, and the generally poor state of parking around the station makes it an infrequent stop for commuters. Those wishing to store their cycles ahead of their journey may do so via cycle storage, however; access to a pay phone is also available nearby. The bicycle stands are monitored via CCTV. There is step-free access to the single platform via a long ramp, as well as a permanent waiting shelter. Help is provided via the customer helpline.
