From entertainer Cilla Black to actor Sir John Mills, some of Britain's best-loved TV and film personalities made their home in Denham. And no wonder - it's a pretty South Buckinghamshire village on the rural side of London's Green Belt, and a winner of multiple Best Kept Village awards. Trains from the local station carry passengers to London Marylebone in around 30 minutes, making it a popular home for well-off commuters too.
Built in 1906, Denham station is on the Chiltern Main Line, and lies just over half a mile north of the main village. The main road into town isn't ideal for pedestrians, so use the footpath known as The Pyghtle. Local attractions include the Colne Valley Regional Park Visitor Centre, which is the perfect spot to explore the great outdoors before indulging in something yummy from the cafe. The village itself is heaving with pubs, restaurants and independent businesses, including a renowned traditional butcher.
