The station at Bagshot opened in 1848, and the small red-brick buildings date back to the time when it was operated by the London and South Western Railway. Today, travellers arrive at a station that stands to the north of the town centre, between the royal residence of Bagshot Park and the Windlesham Golf Club. Regular services from Bagshot include trains to Ascot, Guildford and Aldershot, with a limited service to London Waterloo.
Bagshot High Street, with its collection of shops, pubs and restaurants, is about half a mile south of the station - the easiest walking route is down Station Alley, a path that runs alongside the tracks. To the north of Bagshot and the station is the woodland of Swinley Forest, home to an Iron Age hill fort known as Caesar's Camp. Criss-crossed by walking trails, it's also one of the most popular mountain biking areas in the region, with three marked routes.
