Althorpe Railway Station connects the village of Althorpe, as well as the nearby villages of Keadby and Gunness, via the South Humberside Main Line. Trains to Althorpe station call approximately hourly from 06:00-23:15, Monday to Friday, and 06:00-22:15 on Saturdays. There are no Sunday trains from Althorpe. Stopping services include trains from Sheffield to Scunthorpe, with some services terminating at Doncaster instead. Many of Althorpe station's trains are operated by Northern, except for the once-daily service via TransPennine Express between Manchester Airport and Cleethorpes.
The present-day Althorpe Railway Station supplanted two earlier stations located only half a mile apart and is actually closer to the village of Keadby than Althorpe itself. Althorpe's St Oswald's church is a Grade I listed property dating to the 15th c. and is a pleasant 15-minute walk from the station along the River Trent. The station today has two platforms with shelters, and tickets must be purchased onboard or before travelling. The station is unstaffed, although payphones are available.
