The fastest trains from Warsaw to Berlin take just 5h 30m to complete the 512-km journey. Departing from Warszawa Centralna station, you will travel on one of Deutsche Bahn’s EuroCity trains. Complete with First and Standard Class carriages, air-conditioning and a restaurant car, EuroCity trains make for a comfortable and efficient journey. You will arrive into Berlin Hbf station – right in the centre of the city.
There are several ticket options available on this route. The cheapest tickets are Deutsche Bahn’s Super Sparpreis Europa fares. These are equivalent to Advance tickets in the UK – offering heavy discounts on full-price fares. However, you must catch the exact service listed on your ticket, otherwise, it won’t be valid. If you want flexibility, opt for a Flexpreis Europa fare. While these are more expensive, you can exchange the ticket if you’d like to catch a different service or get a full refund up to the day before departure. Book your tickets in advance to find the cheapest tickets and ensure you’ve got a seat reservation.
Most of the train companies across Europe release their tickets around three to six months in advance, many of which can be cheaper the earlier you book. If you know the dates you want to travel, you may be able to find some cheaper train tickets from Warsaw to Berlin by booking early.§
Many of the train services in Europe are also popular commuter services, lots of train companies increase ticket prices during “peak hours” (generally between 06:00 – 10:00 and 15:00 – 19:00 on weekdays). If you can, consider travelling outside of peak hours to find lower priced tickets.
On some of the busier routes, you might also have the option to take a slower or connecting train. It may take a little longer than some high-speed or direct services, but if you have a little extra time on your hands, you might find a cheaper fare. Plus, you'll have more time to enjoy the view of the countryside!
