Schwerin is known for its Castle of the same name sitting on an island in Lake Schwerin and the amazing Gothic Cathedral found in the old town area of the city. There are many fairy-tale like sights to see here. The closest airport, Parchim is around an hour away by car so travelling here by train is a great option as you arrive directly in the town.
Getting to Schwerin from Berlin by train can take more than two hours direct. However, by taking two faster trains, including the ICE, and changing in Ludwigslust, you can get there in under two hours. Another benefit of train travel is that it’s more environmentally friendly than other forms of transport – you’re practically helping to save the planet by traveling by train.
