Buses to Birmingham Airport

Birmingham Airport is one of the most popular airports in the UK. With Birmingham city being bang in the centre of England, the airport has excellent transport links with major UK locations. Many choose to take the bus to get to Birmingham Airport for convenience and to save on costs.

National Express runs services from Birmingham to Birmingham Airport through day and night. Local bus services also connect Birmingham Airport with Birmingham City Centre, Coventry, Solihull and other nearby locations. If you’re travelling from further afield, National Express also run direct coaches to Birmingham Airport from major areas within the UK.

All buses and coaches stop directly outside the Birmingham Airport Terminal building. Many also go to Birmingham Interchange train station, where you can take the 2-minute Air-Rail monorail service to the airport.

Getting to Birmingham Airport by bus

Using Trainline, you can book cheap bus tickets from Birmingham City Centre and major locations in the UK to Birmingham Airport in just a few clicks. This will save you money on taxis and airport parking, meaning you’ll have more to spend on your holiday. We recommend that you book tickets well in advance to get the cheapest fares.

All coaches stop at Birmingham Airport, right next to the terminal building. Many also run to Birmingham International train station, from which you can take the 2-minute Air-Link monorail service to Birmingham Airport terminal.

National Express operates most of the coaches to Birmingham Airport, including a coach from Birmingham Coach Station to Birmingham Airport Terminal. On this route, you can get tickets for as low as £3.80 and the journey takes around 25 minutes. These services run to the airport every day, approximately every hour during the day and every two hours during evenings and late at night. If you’re travelling from further afield, National Express run direct services to Birmingham Airport from many UK towns and cities including Oxford, Luton, Milton Keynes, and Manchester. They also run transfer services to Birmingham Airport from Manchester, London Heathrow, London Stansted, London Gatwick and London Luton airports. All National Express coaches are comfortable with free Wi-Fi and air conditioning on board.

If you have an early flight, there’s a Novotel hotel just opposite Birmingham Airport terminal and only one minutes’ walk away from the departure lounge.

Things to do in Birmingham Airport

Birmingham Airport is one of the largest in the UK, catering to over 1m passengers every month. As you enter, the check-in desks will be straight ahead or on the left, depending on which entrance you use. The security gates and departure lounge are then upstairs.

Once you get past security, you’ll find a duty-free store with confectionary, alcohol, souvenirs and more. After that, there’s plenty of eateries, bars and coffee shops (including Costa, Burger King, Pret a Manger and Wetherspoons), as well as shops (Dixons Travel, WHSmith, JD Sports, Boots, and more).
