The Stonehenge Bus Tour (usually an orange double-decker) operates a Hop-on, hop-off service to Stonehenge with an average journey time of about 30 minutes.
Trains from London to Stonehenge
The popular journey from London to Stonehenge is easily accessible by taking a train from London Waterloo to Salisbury station. The service is operated by South Western Railway and there are trains every half an hour. From Waterloo, the train journey plus the bus transfer from Salisbury to Stonehenge can take just over two hours in total, leaving you with plenty of time to explore this mythical British landmark.
For an added slice of adventure, you could also travel to Stonehenge via Bath Spa. There are trains from London to Bath from Paddington station every 30 minutes and the journey time is around an hour and a half. And once you've explored the ancient Roman city and its stunning surroundings, Bath to Salisbury trains run frequently and take less than an hour.

Planning on celebrating the official start of astronomical summer in the UK's premier destination for solstice? This year's event takes place on Sunday 21st June 2026, offering roughly 17 hours of daylight.
Because the overnight event takes place between Saturday evening and Sunday morning, plan to arrive in Salisbury on Saturday evening.
1. Take a direct train from London Waterloo to Salisbury Railway Station
There are regular services every 30-40 minutes, with the journey taking around 1 hour 30 minutes.
2. Solstice Shuttle Bus to Stonehenge
There are official shuttle buses, Salisbury Reds, that will take you from Salisbury Station to Stonehenge. The journey takes around 35 minutes, with services every 10-20 minutes until 1:20am on Sunday morning.
Please note the shuttle bus is cash-free and only accepts contactless payment or tickets via the Salisbury Reds app.
Frequent return shuttles run back to the station immediately after sunrise on Sunday morning.
