Open since 1838 Winchfield train station was given the name Shapley Heath, in 1840 it was given its current title of Winchfield train station. Services at the station are used by passengers from Winchfield village as well as the villages of Hartley Wintney and a number of other villages within Hampshire. Locations such as London Waterloo and Basingstoke can be accessed from Winchfield station. The service to Basingstoke arrives at platform 2 twice an hour from Monday through to Saturday. The Sunday service for this route arrives hourly. London Waterloo is less than one hour from Winchfield train station this regular service is available throughout the week and includes stops at Fleet, Woking and Clapham Junction.  

The station itself has two platforms connected via a footbridge. Step-free access is available to both platforms these entrances can be used by a wheelchair user unaided. Facilities at Winchfield station include a ticket office, coffee shop, shelter and outdoor seating.
