West Wickham station lies on the Hayes line in the borough of Bromley to the south east of the capital. There are frequent services to and from Charing Cross and Cannon Street during peak commuter times and two trains per hour to each of these destinations throughout the day. Four trains per hour go one stop further southbound to Hayes, where the line terminates.
In the decades following the arrival of the railway in 1882, West Wickham transformed from a small village into a typical London suburb with lots of residential development, particularly in the 1930s and 40s. The High Street, with the usual array of local shops, banks, cafes and pubs is about ten minutes' walk to the south of the station. Langley Park golf course and sports ground is just to the north. West Wickham station, along with Eden Park station, also serves Bethlem Royal Hospital.
