West Allerton Railway Station serves the Liverpool suburb of Allerton with regular Northern trains operating on the Liverpool to Manchester Line. Trains from West Allerton typically depart half-hourly, at :06 and :37 past the hour towards Manchester Oxford Road and :11 and :39 past the hour to Liverpool Lime Street. In evenings, service frequency is hourly.  

A relatively large station, only platforms 1 and 2 are in frequent use at West Allerton, and most trains serve those platforms. Facilities are fairly basic, with each platform having a basic glass and metal waiting shelter provided for passenger use whilst awaiting services. There is no step-free access to the platforms, as the footbridge from the manned ticket office to the platforms is via stairs.
