Trains into Staplehurst, Kent, pull into an area dominated by local light industry and commercial enterprise, but as you'll see from the size of the station's car park, this is also a major commuter town. The modern station offers two trains an hour to London Charing Cross, arriving in just under an hour - and commuters from nearby Cranbrook, Sissinghurst and Hawkhurst board here as well as local residents. Services in the other direction run to Dover, Ramsgate and Canterbury.
Those that stay in the village have plenty to do, though. Try pottering around the parade of mainly independent shops on the High Street, a 13-minute walk south of the station, or visiting the beautiful Hush Heath Estate, a Tudor manor overlooking the estate's vineyards in the Weald of Kent. Visitors can enjoy vineyard tours and wine tastings, then take a wander through the kitchen garden, Italianate terracing and the Japanese ponds.
