Small Heath train station is used by the South East districts of Small Heath in Birmingham. It was constructed in the mid-19th-century along the line between Birkenhead Woodside and London Paddington by Great Western Railway. Through the years it was extended and once had four platforms serving commuters heading to the city. Today, there are just two left and all the original station buildings have been demolished. It is managed, along with the trains that pass through, by West Midlands Trains. The basic, unstaffed station has an island layout and few facilities that include little more than a single waiting shelter, timetable posters and a help point. Passengers are required to get their tickets online prior to travel or to purchase when onboard the train. There are up to six trains an hour direct to Birmingham Snow Hill and one an hour direct to Dorridge.
When you arrive at Small Heath, there is no better place to while away a sunny afternoon than nearby Small Heath Park where you can walk along the footpaths or kick back by the lake.
