Singer train station is in the centre of Clydebank just 7 miles or so west of Glasgow along the North Clyde Line. It was opened in the early 20th-century, originally as Kilbowie Road, but later changed its name when it became the main commuter stop for workers heading to their shifts in the nearby Singer sewing machine factory. At one time, it had six platforms, though many were closed after the factory shutdown. Today, it’s got two platforms managed by Abellio ScotRail and serves more than 600,000 passengers a year. There are two trains an hour direct to Glasgow Queen Street and Edinburgh (Waverley)
You’ll need to go a little further afield to find things to do. If you head a little north, you could go walking around the large Dalmuir Public Park. While you’re there, why not try your hand at a round of golf along the park’s course.
