Trains to Shirehampton

Shirehampton railway station lies just a few miles north west of Bristol city centre along the Severn Beach Line It was opened in the mid-19^th century by the Bristol Port Railway and Pier as an important stop for transporting goods, though it was made available to passengers a few decades later. It continued to be a busy station up until the second half of the 20^th century were passenger numbers and services began to decline. Freighter services ended in the ‘60s and a few years later the station became unstaffed. In the ‘70s, platform two was closed and the station buildings were sold off to private investors, but unfortunately, they didn’t survive a fire in the ‘90s. The station’s run of bad luck seems to be coming to an end though and today the station, which is now managed by Great Western Railway, has 24 departures a day from its single platform. Here, you can catch a direct train to Bristol Temple Meads in just 28 minutes.

When you step off onto the station’s platform, you’ll be just a few minutes away from several green spaces including the Daisy Field and the Woodwell Road Allotments, not to mention the Shirehampton Park Golf Club where you can tee off along the sunny fairways and go for that coveted hole-in-one.
