Shipton railway station is used by the little community of Shipton-under-Wychwood and the surrounding Oxfordshire villages. It was opened in the mid-19th century by the then Oxford, Worcester and Wolverhampton Railway, but was later absorbed into Great Western Railway who still manage it along with the trains that pass through today. It’s a simple, unstaffed station with little more than old waiting shelters, bench seating and timetable posters on both its platforms. It’s a relatively quiet station with around 6,000 passengers using it annually. There are two trains a day direct to London Paddington in 1 hour 34 minutes, one in the morning and one in the evening.
