Severn Tunnel Junction railway station lies on the north west side of the River Seven in the county of Monmouthshire. It was opened next to the small community of Rogiet in the mid-19th century and records show it was almost called Rogiet Station, though it was decided that the Seven Tunnel Junction was a better fit as is was little more than a hamlet in those days. Today, the station and the trains that pass through on the South Wales Main Line are managed by Arriva Trains Wales with more than 250,000 passengers using the four platforms every year. There is a staffed ticket office open between Mondays and Fridays. Outside these hours, tickets must either be purchased online in advance or on board the train with the guard. Getting into Newport is a breeze with three to four direct services an hour in just 16 minutes, while an hourly direct service to Bristol Temple Meads takes just 22 minutes.
There are several things to do when you step off at Severn Tunnel Junction. Practise your skills at the Rogiet Moor shooting range, catch one of the local matches at the Caldicot Football Club or take a walk along the banks of the River Seven.
