Sea Mills railway station sits along the banks of the River Avon just outside the neighbourhood of Sea Mills a few miles north west of Bristol. It was opened in the mid-19th century by the then Bristol Port Railway and Pier during a boom in British rail construction. Over the next century it expanded and grew in importance becoming part of the Clifton Extension Railway. Over the second half of the 20th century, the station wasn’t so fortunate and a decline in passenger numbers along the Severn Beach Line lead to it closing all but one of its platforms by the early ‘70s. Things are looking brighter for Sea Mills today though and it currently serves over 60,000 passengers annually. It’s run and managed by Great Western Railway. Facilities are sparse with little more than a brick waiting shelter, a few bench seats and timetable posters. Tickets need to be bought online in advance or on board the station with the conductor as there are no facilities to purchase them at the station. There is an irregular hourly direct service to Bristol Temple Meads in 24 minutes.

When you arrive in Sea Mills, be sure to head a little south to the Old Sneed Park, a beautiful nature reserve brimming with colourful flowers and British wildlife species or the neighbouring Bennett's Patch and White's Paddock.
