Trains to Scotstounhill

Rowlands Castle railway station is a small station serving the village of the same name in Hampshire. It was opened in the mid-19^th century as a stop along the line between Petersfield and Havant and originally had a coal sidling to accommodation freighter services. Unlike many British stations, the original brick station buildings still exist with a ticket office that opens only in the early morning between 6.30 and 9.30am. The rest of the time, passengers are required to buy their tickets online in advance or on board the train with the guard. There are two platforms linked by a footbridge and facilities including a waiting shelter, digital displays and bench seating. The station and the trains that pass through are managed by South Western Railway. There are two trains an hourly direct to Portsmouth Harbour in 28 minutes and one an hour direct to London Waterloo in 1 hour 28 minutes.

Remember to bring your walking boots to Rowlands Castle because you’re not going to want to miss a hike through the chalk hills and woodlands of the South Downs National Park. While you’re there, take some time to swing by the stately Edwardian Stansted Park which opens its doors to the public during the summer months.
