Rugeley Town railway station serves the little community of Rugeley and the surrounding Staffordshire villages. It was constructed in the late-19th century by the then London and North Western Railway and a busy commuter station until the mid ’60s when the line and all the stations between Rugeley Trent Valley to Walsall were closed as part of the Beeching Axe. In the late ‘90s, the station was reopened along the Chase Line and now serves around 130,000 people annually. The station, its two platforms and the trains that pass through are managed and run by West Midlands Railway. There is no ticket office at the unstaffed station, though there are self-service machines for purchasing tickets before boarding the train. There are one to two direct services and hour southbound to Birmingham New Street in 53 minutes and northbound to Rugeley Trent Valley in 5 minutes.

If you’re looking for the great outdoors, you’ve come to the right place. When you step off at Rugeley Town, you’ll be right on the edge of the Cannock Chase Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty where you can go hiking along the winding footpaths or mountain biking across the forested trails.
