Rochford train station serves the Essex town on the Shenfield-to-Southend Line. The station was once a busy thoroughfare for travellers heading to the nearby London Southend Airport, until the airport got its own dedicated station in 2011. Today, three passenger services an hour leave the station both for Southend Victoria from platform 2 and London Liverpool Street, about an hour away, from platform 1, making it a popular commuter town for city workers. Abellio Greater Anglia trains for Rochford station pull in through a leafy residential area near the River Roach and the town's golf club. A short walk east of the station, along West Street, is the pretty the town centre square with library and butcher, and a mix of independent and high-street shops and cafes. The town also has several award-winning restaurants. For those seeking more active pursuits, RollaCity, a roller disco and nightclub is a five-minute cab ride from the station.
