Roby train station is used by the little community of Roby just a few miles due east of central Liverpool. Like many British railways stations, it was opened in the 19th-century and originally had 4 platforms, though due to a decline in passenger numbers, it was reduced to two in the ‘70s. After the electrification of the Liverpool to Manchester Line in 2014, both the closed platforms were reopened. The beautiful red-brick station buildings are still in use as the ticket office which opens throughout the week including Sundays. There are shelters on the three other platforms, along with digital passenger displays and customer help points. There are up to four trains an hour direct to Liverpool Lime Street and several services a day direct to Manchester Victoria.
If you’ve brought your clubs to Roby, you’re in luck. The rolling fairways and sand bunkers of the Bowring Park Golf Course are just a few minutes’ walk away. If golfing’ not your thing, make a beeline for the beautiful nearby Roby Community Garden.
