Ridgmont train station lies just a few miles east of Milton Keynes and is used by the community of Ridgemont and the surrounding villages like Husborne Crawley. The station is used by workers from the vast Amazon warehouse which is within walking distance. The unique former stationmaster’s house built in the mid-19th-century is an architectural gem and was fully restored in 2014 using grants from the Railway Heritage Trust. Today, it houses a tea room, toilets for passengers and a heritage centre in what used to be the ticket office. In popular culture, the train station was used for some of the scenes in the 2011 movie, ‘One Day’. Today, the two platforms and the trains that pass through are managed by London Midland. There are hourly direct service to Bletchley and Bedford.
If you’re not coming to Ridgmont to work in the enormous Amazon or FedEx warehouses next to the station, there are several things worth seeing nearby. If you’ve brought the kids, you won’t want to miss the Woburn Safari Park, a road safari with plenty of exotic critters. Alternatively, visit the Millbrook Golf Club to practise your dive along the rolling fairways.
