Originally opened in 1860, Queenborough train station serves the North Kent town of Queenborough on the Isle of Sheppey, North Kent. The station lies between Swale and Sheerness-on Sea on the Sheerness branch line. Southeastern trains run a typical off peak service of two trains per hour to Sheerness-on-Sea, and Sittingbourne, where onward connections can be made for travel towards London. The fastest journey times to Sheerness-on-Sea and Sittingbourne are 5 minutes and 13 minutes respectively.
The small town of Queenborough grew up as a port, lying at the point where the rivers Swale and Medway join. The town was named after Philippa of Hainault, Queen to King Edward III. Admiral Lord Nelson shared a house in the town with his mistress Lady Hamilton; he is reputed to have learned many of his seafaring skills in this area.
Queenborough train station has two platforms, both with step-free access. Connection between the platforms can be made either by an iron footbridge or the nearby B2007 road bridge. The imposing two-storey Victorian station building contains a staffed ticket office and waiting room. There are no toilet facilities at this station.
