Prittlewell train station serves the community of Prittlewell, a mainly residential area of Southend-on-Sea, Essex, situated between Southend Airport and Southend Victoria. London’s Liverpool Street station is 40 miles to the west and the typical journey time to the station is 56 minutes. Prittlewell station lies on the Shenfield to Southend Line with services operated by Greater Anglia at an off-peak frequency of three trains per hour. There are no trains on Sundays.
Prittlewell train station opened in 1889 with the line from Southend to Wickford. A goods yard near the station was used for handling coal until its closure in 1967. Today, the station comprises of two platforms with step-free access only to the London bound platform 1. There are sheltered seating areas for passengers on both sides and the platforms are linked by a footbridge with steps over the line. A ticket office is located at the entrance to platform 1 and there is a self-service ticket machine on the platform.
